This season, Yanga and Azam FC have already faced each other twice in the Premier League and the Muungano Cup.
The Premier League encounter ended in a goalless draw, while Yanga secured a 2-1 victory in the semi-final of the Muungano Cup.
However, there are still another 180 minutes of the “Mzizima Derby” to be played after both teams qualified for the semi-finals of the CRDB Cup.
Yanga and Azam FC will now battle for a place in the final, where the winner will face either Simba or Coastal Union.
The two teams also still have to meet in the second-round fixture of the NBC Premier League, with Yanga expected to host that match.
Coach Abdihamid Moalin and his technical bench now have an important task of ensuring Yanga come out on top in both encounters in order to maintain hopes of defending their two remaining trophies.
Both matches are expected to be played in June 2026.
