Young Africans SC (Yanga) Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has clarified what appeared to be a misunderstanding between goalkeeper Djigui Diarra and team captain Bakari Nondo Mwamnyeto during the league match against Dodoma Jiji, where Yanga’s 42-match unbeaten run came to an end following a 3-2 defeat.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam earlier today after the Yanga squad returned from Dodoma, Kamwe said the incident was a normal part of football and that the matter ended on the pitch.
“There is no misunderstanding between our players Diarra and Mwamnyeto. Every player on the pitch is fighting for the team, so disagreements and exchanges of words are completely normal during matches.”
“Those things end right there on the field. I can assure everyone that there is no conflict between them,” said Kamwe.
Yanga returned to Dar es Salaam today from Dodoma and will now have two days to prepare for their CRDB Federation Cup quarterfinal match against JKT Tanzania.
