Young Africans SC (Yanga) dropped all three points in Singida after suffering a 3-2 defeat against Dodoma Jiji in a NBC Premier League match played at Airtel Mtipa Stadium.
It was a match many fans may describe as one Yanga were destined to lose, as the team created numerous scoring opportunities but failed to convert them due to poor finishing in front of goal.
Allan Okello scored both goals for Yanga, while captain Bakari Mwamnyeto scored an own goal. Dodoma Jiji netted their other two goals late in the match through Kibuta and Waziri Junior.
Despite the defeat, Yanga still remain in a strong position in the title race. However, the result could serve as a wake-up call for the players to become more clinical in front of goal.
Yanga could easily have secured a comfortable victory had they taken their chances. Striker Prince Dube may struggle to sleep tonight after missing several opportunities, as he could have completed a hat-trick in the match.
