Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has boldly claimed that their rivals Simba have “walked into a trap” after qualifying for the Muungano Cup final.
Yanga were the first to reach the final after defeating Azam FC 2-1, while Simba joined them following a convincing 3-0 win over Mlandege.
The two sides are now set to face off in the Muungano Cup final on Wednesday, April 29, before meeting again on May 3 in an NBC Premier League clash.
Kamwe stated that Yanga had actually hoped to face Simba before the league encounter—and that wish has now come true.
“We are happy they made it to the final because our trap has now worked perfectly,” Kamwe boasted.
This season, Yanga and Simba have already met twice. The first encounter was in the Community Shield, where Yanga secured a 1-0 victory, followed by a goalless draw in the league match played at the New Amaan Complex.
After that draw, there was plenty of talk from the Simba camp, with claims that they deserved to win, pointing to moments they felt went in their favor.
However, since March 1, Yanga have undergone significant changes, including the arrival of assistant coach Abdulhamid Moalin. Since then, the team has won all their matches while scoring a high number of goals.
There were also growing accusations suggesting Yanga were “buying matches,” which led the club’s management to take action against some analysts accused of spreading such claims.
All eyes are now on Yanga as they head into what could be a defining 180 minutes to prove their dominance in Tanzanian football.
