Yanga versatile midfielder Duke Abuya was named Man of the Match in yesterday’s Muungano Cup semi-final against Azam FC, as the “Wananchi” advanced to the final with a 2-1 victory.
The Kenyan midfielder earned the award after delivering an impressive performance in midfield, working effectively alongside his teammates Mohamed Damaro “Ngosha,” Maxi Nzengeli, and Allan Okello.
This season, Duke has become a very important player in the Yanga squad. While his name may not always be widely mentioned, he has proven to be a key asset for coach Pedro Goncalves and his technical bench.
While Damaro focused on breaking up play, Abuya took on the role of distributing precise and creative passes, covering large areas of the pitch tirelessly.
Duke and Maxi are players known for their high work rate, covering significant ground and contributing both when the team is in possession and without the ball.
Duke stated that the secret behind his standout performance was his hard work and the strong cooperation he received from his teammates.
