At the start of the season, Yanga’s sponsor Ghalib Said Mohamed “GSM” made his famous statement, “Yanga Bingwa” (Yanga are champions).
This phrase has gained popularity since GSM introduced it in the 2021/22 season, and since then Yanga has gone on to win the Premier League title.
This season, Yanga is chasing a fifth consecutive title, and so far the team sits at the top of the league with an eight-point lead.
Last month was challenging for Yanga due to a congested fixture schedule, with around four matches ending in draws.
However, at this point, it is fair to say that the team’s title calculations remain intact. With both Simba and Azam FC dropping points in two consecutive matches, Yanga is guaranteed to stay at the top with at least a five-point lead even if Simba wins their game in hand.
Yanga now has 12 matches left to ensure the title returns to Jangwani for a fifth consecutive season.
