It has been reported that Simba SC recently filed an official complaint challenging the legitimacy of Yanga midfielder Mohamed Damaro Camara’s citizenship, alleging that he was registered as a domestic player without following the proper procedures.
According to verified reports, the matter has been submitted to the Committee on Law and Player Status for further investigation, with Simba stating that the player was initially associated with Guinean nationality in international football systems.
Simba claims that for a player to be officially recognized as switching football nationality, he must follow FIFA procedures, including obtaining special approval to change national representation, which they allege has not been confirmed for Damaro.
However, a major point of debate among stakeholders is the timing of these complaints, considering that the player was granted Tanzanian citizenship by the national immigration authorities last season while playing for Singida Black Stars.
Yanga registered him in January during the minor transfer window, at which point he was already a Tanzanian citizen. The Tanzania Football Federation confirmed his transfer to Yanga as a Tanzanian player.
Yanga Club has insisted that the player’s registration was conducted in accordance with the existing domestic procedures.
