Yanga SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has praised the club’s fans and members for raising TSh 4 million within 24 hours to pay the fine for goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
Kamwe emphasized that the initiative was started by the fans themselves out of love and support for their players, who they stand by in both happy times and challenging moments.
He added that Yanga fans have maintained this admirable tradition, which keeps them close to their players.
On his social media page, Kamwe wrote the following message:
"Within 24 hours, Yanga fans have contributed TSh 4 million for goalkeeper Djigui Diarra. When we say this is a People’s Team, we do not mean only during happy times. We are united and strong when one of us faces difficult moments.
This has gone beyond, and I believe Diarra has received it with love and a heavy heart of gratitude. In Shaa Allah, his punishment will end, and he will return with morale and determination to fight for our club in the race for the championship," wrote Kamwe.
Along with paying the fine, Diarra will miss three upcoming matches in both the league and the CRDB Cup.
