Yanga Directs Coaches to Rotate Squad and Give All Players Game Time

Young Africans SC (Yanga) has instructed its technical bench to ensure that all players in the squad are given playing time, following a thorough evaluation of the team’s performance conducted earlier this week.

During the meeting, the coaches presented their report to club leaders, outlining both the successes and challenges they encountered—especially during the month of March, which had a congested schedule of matches across multiple competitions.

The report also included an assessment of each individual player’s contribution within the squad. This enabled the leadership to identify that some players had not been given sufficient playing time, while others appeared to have made limited impact.

The club’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, stated that leaders questioned the reasons behind this situation and demanded detailed explanations from the technical bench.

He explained that the coach provided technical justifications regarding team selection, although those details were not made public.

However, Kamwe emphasized that the leadership has taken a firm stance that every player deserves an opportunity to play, stressing that all are paid to serve the team.

“The leaders have clearly directed that every player must be given a chance, especially during this period when the team has many matches across different competitions,” he said.

He added that the move aims to ensure the entire squad remains match-ready at all times, increase internal competition, and help reduce fatigue among players who have been used frequently.

This decision is good news for some players who have had limited roles in the squad, as they may now begin to feature in matches depending on tactical needs.

Fans who have been eager to see players like Farid Mussa and Salum Abubakar ‘Sure Boy’ back in action may now have their wishes granted.
