As Young Africans SC (Yanga) management puts head coach Pedro Goncalves under pressure, there are indications that some players who have been sidelined could benefit from potential changes within the squad.
Reports indicate that the club’s leadership is demanding detailed technical explanations from Goncalves, particularly regarding his decision not to use certain players throughout the first round of the season.
Among the most affected players are midfielder Salum Abubakar, popularly known as “Sure Boy,” and Farid Mussa, who have not featured at all in the team’s plans since the arrival of the coach, while Kibwana Shomari has had very limited opportunities.
Surprisingly, even during a period when Yanga was dealing with injuries to several key players, these names were still not included in matchday squads.
Kibwana has mainly featured in CRDB Cup matches, while Farid and Sure Boy have completely missed out across all competitions.
In previous seasons, Sure Boy was one of Yanga’s key players, playing a vital role in midfield with great consistency. The same applied to Farid Mussa, a versatile player who was deployed in multiple positions.
Their sudden absence this season has raised many questions among fans and football stakeholders, who are seeking clarity on the technical reasons behind the situation.
