Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves says his team is ready for a tough NBC Premier League encounter against Tanzania Prisons, scheduled for Thursday at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, the Portuguese tactician described Prisons as a difficult opponent who will be eager to bounce back after failing to secure positive results in recent matches.
Goncalves expressed strong belief in his players, saying he is confident they will execute the team’s tactical plan as they aim to secure all three points.
“Today we will have our final training session as we prepare to face Tanzania Prisons. Our focus is on performing well because we know what we want. Tomorrow we are playing a tough team that recently lost to Simba and then drew with Azam. We are certain the match will be difficult, but we came here for three points and we believe we will get them,” said Goncalves.
The coach also acknowledged the injury challenges within the squad but insisted the team remains focused on achieving a positive result.
“Despite several injury challenges, such as those involving Job, Mzize and others, the entire team is focused on achieving good results. Everyone is making a big effort to help the club reach its goals,” he added.
Goncalves also took time to thank the club’s supporters for their continued backing despite a demanding match schedule.
“We truly appreciate the support from Wananchi in every situation. If you look at our schedule, it has been very demanding with matches every two days, but our supporters have never been behind. They always come to support us.”
He further highlighted the depth within his squad, noting that while only 11 players can start, every player understands the team’s philosophy and is ready to contribute.
“We have many talented players, but only 11 can start. What makes me happy is that all the players understand our ideas very well. Everyone is ready to help the team. I believe tomorrow will be a tough but good day because we came here looking for victory,” Goncalves concluded.
