Head coach Pedro Goncalves has admitted that his team is facing a demanding run of fixtures but insists they are ready to take on Singida Black Stars in tomorrow’s NBC Premier League clash at Airtel Stadium in Singida.
Goncalves said Yanga have been dealing with a tough schedule, with Thursday’s encounter marking their fifth match in just 15 days, including long travel commitments.
"For us every match is important, and right now we are going through a difficult period of playing consecutive games. Tomorrow’s match will be our fifth in 15 days, and those games have also involved travelling," he said.
"Despite the challenge, my players understand the importance of each game. We need to protect our position at the top of the league table."
The Yanga tactician acknowledged that Singida Black Stars are among the strong sides in the NBC Premier League but emphasized his team’s determination to compete and secure maximum points.
"We know we are going to face one of the best teams in the league. We have come here to play competitive football and fight for victory."
Goncalves also confirmed that defender Dickson Job suffered a serious knee injury during the recent derby against Simba and is expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks.
Midfielder Pacome Zouzoua will also miss the match, though he is close to returning to the squad. Meanwhile, Edmund John continues his recovery after struggling with a shoulder problem.
"Job had a serious knee issue, a bad injury that could keep him out for about two months."
