Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has said the club is not ready to listen to discouraging comments, insisting they are confident of securing victory against JS Kabylie on Sunday and booking a place in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) quarter-finals.
Kamwe made the remarks shortly after the team returned from Morocco, where they lost 1-0 to AS FAR in their fifth group-stage match.
He confidently stated that Yanga have experience in decisive matches and that on Sunday they will silence all those who doubt the ability of the Tanzanian champions.
“We don’t need you to believe in us because we, Yanga ourselves, believe and we know what we are going to do on Sunday. You can do your calculations and then finish your talk.”
“I’m saying Yanga will be the only team from Tanzania to play in the CAF quarter-finals this season.”
“I’m speaking with full confidence. I have no doubt that on Sunday Yanga will qualify for the quarter-finals. If there are calculations to be done, you do them yourselves.”
“At one o’clock we will stitch someone up at New Amaan Complex, and by three o’clock we will begin celebrations for reaching the quarter-finals,” Kamwe boasted.
Yanga need at least a 2-0 victory over JS Kabylie, while also hoping that Al Ahly defeat AS FAR, to advance to the quarter-finals.
What gives the Tanzanian side hope is that Al Ahly have not won in their last three matches across all competitions, meaning they will treat their match against AS FAR with great importance, as a negative result could even cost their coach his job.
However, Yanga’s primary task is to secure victory against JS Kabylie before thinking about Al Ahly’s result, because if Yanga fail to win, AS FAR will qualify for the quarter-finals regardless of their own result against Al Ahly.
