Yanga’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, has said that following the team’s defeat to AS FAR, their focus has now shifted to the final group stage match against JS Kabylie, which will be played on Friday, February 13 at the New Amaan Complex.
Kamwe stated that Yanga still have a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals and will ensure they win that match.
Speaking after the game against AS FAR, Kamwe admitted they did not achieve their objective in that match but emphasized that they are now determined to accomplish their mission in the final home fixture.
“We lost the game today (yesterday), but we still have a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals. Our focus is now on the final match against JS Kabylie at Guantanamo Bay (New Amaan Complex).”
“Yanga will qualify in style in Zanzibar. We are going to show Africa what Yanga is capable of when it sets its sights on a goal.”
“For now, those calculating permutations can continue doing so — that’s not our job. Our job is to qualify,” said Kamwe.
A victory by at least two unanswered goals could be enough to send Yanga to the quarter-finals, provided Al Ahly defeat AS FAR in their final group match.
Yanga and Al Ahly will both play their final matches at home against JS Kabylie and AS FAR respectively.
