The management of Young Africans SC (Yanga) have begun taking early precautionary steps to ensure their key striker, Prince Dube, remains at the club beyond the end of the current season.
Dube, who joined Yanga at the start of the 2024/2025 season from Azam FC, signed a two-year contract set to expire in June 2026. However, with less than six months remaining on that deal, the Jangwani hierarchy has been prompted to act early.
The Zimbabwean forward’s profile has risen further following his impressive performances at AFCON 2025, where he scored one goal despite his national team failing to reach the round of 16. Dube has since attracted interest from several foreign clubs, particularly from Saudi Arabia and Morocco, who have begun monitoring the striker closely.
An internal source is quoted as saying that Yanga’s strategy is to sit down early with key players before the season ends, in order to avoid the risk of losing them for free. This approach has previously paid off with players such as Pacome Zouzoua, Kouassi Attohoula Yao, and Djigui Diarra, whose contracts were extended before expiration.
In terms of statistics, Dube has continued to be a vital weapon in Yanga’s attacking line. Over two seasons, he has scored a total of 16 goals in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League—netting 13 goals in his debut season and adding three so far in the current campaign.
Beyond Dube, Yanga are also facing contract challenges with other players nearing the end of their deals, including Chadrack Boka, Kibwana Shomari, and Farid Musa, placing the club in a crucial period of planning for the future of their squad.
