Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves handed attacking midfielder Allan Okello a full 90 minutes in yesterday’s NBC Premier League match against Mashujaa FC.
Okello joined Yanga in the current transfer window from Uganda’s Vipers FC, and his first match with the club ended in a resounding 6–0 victory.
In that match, Okello was the only player signed during the mid-season transfer window to feature for the entire 90 minutes.
This alone is enough to demonstrate the trust Goncalves has in the skilful midfielder, whose arrival is expected to make life easier for Yanga’s attackers.
One could say Yanga have now filled the void left by Stephane Aziz Ki with the acquisition of Okello.
Against Mashujaa FC, he created four chances, including a clear opportunity for Duke Abuya, while his late free kick was finished by Depu after goalkeeper Erick Johora spilled the ball.
Okello did not need much time to showcase his talent—without a doubt, many good things are still to come…!
