On Friday, January 23, 2026, Yanga will be in action in Egypt as they face Africa’s most successful CAF Champions League club, Al Ahly, in a Group B third-round match.
Hosts Al Ahly have chosen to stage the match at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, a journey of approximately four hours from Cairo by train or bus.
This will not be the first time Yanga face Al Ahly at this venue. Back in 2016, during CAF Champions League qualification for the group stage, Yanga lost 2–1 in the second leg at Borg El Arab after drawing 1–1 in the first leg in Dar es Salaam.
The stadium has frequently been used by both Al Ahly and their rivals Zamalek for selected matches instead of the Cairo International Stadium, which is considered their main home ground.
It is common practice for Egyptian clubs to use this second-largest stadium in the country to take matches closer to football fans in northern Egypt. Borg El Arab is a modern facility with a playing surface measuring 105 metres in length and 70 metres in width.
The stadium is located about 1.5 kilometres from the nearest train station and approximately 15 kilometres from Alexandria city centre, with a seating capacity of 86,000 spectators.
