Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves has confirmed that attacking midfielder Lassine Kouma will not be part of the squad set to face TRA United in the final group-stage match of the Mapinduzi Cup.
Kouma picked up an injury in the previous match against KVZ, which Yanga won 3–0.
Speaking at a press conference earlier on Monday, Goncalves also mentioned that Clement Mzize, Mudathir Yahya, and goalkeeper Aboubakar Khomein will miss the match.
“We will miss several players, including Clement Mzize, who is still undergoing fitness training after returning from injury, as well as Mudathir, who is just a few days away from returning to action. Likewise, Lassine Kouma and our goalkeeper Khomein are also sidelined due to injuries,” said Goncalves.
Goncalves also outlined his tactical approach for the match, promising to continue giving opportunities to different players as part of his plan to improve the overall squad performance.
“We have completed our preparations for the important match against TRA. Our main objective is to be ready to perform well in every match. It doesn’t matter that our opponents have had more time to prepare than us—we must be ready to win. I believe we will qualify for the semifinals after tomorrow’s match,” he said.
Yanga need either a win or a draw to secure a place in the semifinals.
