Tanzania’s national team, the “Taifa Stars,” has written a new chapter in the country’s football history at the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco after qualifying for the Round of 16.
A goal by Feisal Salum, popularly known as “Fei Toto,” was enough to secure Tanzania’s place in the knockout stage after forcing a 1–1 draw against Tunisia.
Tanzania qualified as one of the “best losers,” finishing third in Group C with a total of two points.
The team joins four other sides that also progressed to the knockout stage through the best-loser route.
Tanzania will now face host nation Morocco in the Round of 16 match, scheduled to be played on Sunday, January 4.
