Uganda and Tanzania’s national teams shared the spoils yesterday after playing out a 1–1 draw in a Group C match at the AFCON 2025 tournament.
The goals in the match were scored by Simon Msuva from the penalty spot, while Uche Ikpeazu equalized for Uganda.
The result has left Taifa Stars at a crossroads in their quest to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament.
Stars will conclude the group stage with a clash against Tunisia, a match in which Tanzania will need a win to secure a place in the knockout rounds.
Tunisia lost 3–2 to Nigeria yesterday, remaining on three points in second place.
Mathematically, Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda all still have a chance to progress to the knockout stage, although Tunisia hold the advantage as they need just one point.
Nigeria have already qualified for the knockout stage following their victory over Tunisia.
