The excitement of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers is set to kick off tomorrow, Sunday, December 21, with hosts Morocco facing Comoros in a match scheduled to be played at 10:00 PM.
Tanzania Mainland champions Yanga will have strong representation in the tournament, with six of their players set to fly their respective national flags.
What is even more encouraging for Wananchi is that the majority of the called-up players are key figures in their national teams and are highly likely to feature prominently in the competition.
From goalkeeper Djigui Diarra, who is the first-choice keeper for Mali, to defenders Mohamed Hussein, Dickson Job, and Ibrahim Bacca—who are all expected to serve Taifa Stars—while Prince Dube also has his place secured in the Zimbabwe national team.
Team captain Bakari Nondo Mwamnyeto has also been included in the Taifa Stars squad and could be ready to support Bacca and Job, considering the tactical approach of head coach Miguel Gamondi, who appears to have largely relied on Yanga’s defensive line.
Mali will play their opening match against Zambia on Monday, December 22, while Taifa Stars will kick off their campaign against Nigeria on Tuesday, December 23.
