According to the squad improvement recommendations submitted by Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves, the defensive midfield position is among the areas the Portuguese tactician wants to strengthen.
Despite his signing causing a stir in the previous transfer window, midfielder Moussa Balla Conte has yet to convince the technical bench, and it is now reported that Yanga are preparing to return to the market in search of his replacement.
Yanga president Engineer Hersi Said is said to be closely monitoring Azam FC’s Ghanaian midfielder, James Akaminko.
This would not be the first time Yanga have attempted to lure Akaminko, who is still under contract with Azam FC, a deal that is set to expire at the end of the season.
During the transfer saga that saw Feisal Salum move to Azam FC, Yanga submitted an offer that included Akaminko and Kipre Junior, who is currently playing for MC Alger.
Historically, Azam FC have been unwilling to release Akaminko, but this time things could be different as the player himself is reportedly ready to leave due to limited playing time in the first team.
With less than six months remaining on his contract, Akaminko is allowed to negotiate with other clubs and even sign a pre-contract if an agreement is reached.
The decision now lies with Azam FC on whether to sell him now or risk losing him for free once his contract expires.
