Yanga Head Coach Pedro Goncalves has granted his players a one-week break as the league pauses to accommodate the AFCON 2025 tournament, which begins later this month in Morocco.
The break applies to players who do not have national team duties.
Next week, the Yanga squad will return to training to prepare for upcoming fixtures. After AFCON 2025 concludes, Yanga will travel to Egypt to face Al Ahly in the third CAF Champions League Group B match. The two sides will meet again a week later in the return leg in Zanzibar.
These two matches are crucial and could determine Yanga’s chances of securing an early qualification to the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
Yanga players currently away on national team duty include Mohammed Hussein, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Dickson Job, and Ibrahim Bacca with Tanzania’s Taifa Stars, as well as Djigui Diarra (Mali) and Prince Dube (Zimbabwe).
