With only a few days remaining before the mid-season transfer window opens, there is a strong possibility that Yanga midfielder Moussa Balla Conte may be shown the door with a “Thank You.”
Despite his high-profile arrival in the previous window, Conte has failed to convince the technical bench and has struggled to secure a place in the starting lineup.
As Yanga looks set to strengthen the defensive midfield area, Conte’s position appears to be the most at risk, whether through a loan move or a mutual agreement to part ways.
Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves, speaking to the media after the team’s 2-0 victory over Fountain Gate, made it clear that Yanga is a big club and every player must fight for their place.
“When a player is given an opportunity, he must show that he deserves it, and that should be the reason he remains in the squad,” said Goncalves, who was not pleased with his team’s performance despite the win.
Goncalves is expected to submit his report and recommendations to the club’s leadership, while Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said has already expressed readiness to return to the transfer market to strengthen the squad.
Conte is among the foreign players who joined during the previous transfer window, alongside Mohamed Doumbia, Andy Boyeli, Celestin Ecua, and Lassine Kouma.
Doumbia, Kouma, and Ecua have been receiving more playing time, although Yanga fans still appear unconvinced by the performances of these new signings.
