Yanga center-back Frank Assink may change his fortunes after displaying an impressive performance in the NBC Premier League match against Fountain Gate at the KMC Complex yesterday, where Yanga claimed a 2–0 victory.
Yanga head coach Pedro Gonçalves started Assink in place of captain Bakari Nondo Mwanyeto, who was unavailable.
Assink, who joined Yanga on loan during the last transfer window from Singida BS, partnered well with Dickson Job in defense, showcasing his ability both in defending and initiating attacks.
There had been rumors that Yanga intended to return him to Singida BS in the upcoming mini-transfer window due to his lack of playing time in the first team. However, it appears coach Gonçalves may have a different view of the Ghanaian defender.
After completing the full 90 minutes against Fountain Gate, Assink may earn another full match in the upcoming fixture against Coastal Union.
Perhaps after the Coastal Union match, Gonçalves will have a clearer decision regarding his future.
Yanga are expected to reintegrate Yao Kouassi into the squad when the mini-transfer window opens, meaning one foreign-player slot will be needed.
