Yanga Head Coach Pedro Goncalves says his squad is fully prepared for their NBC Premier League match against Fountain Gate, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, at the KMC Complex.
Goncalves noted that there are no easy matches in the league, and they will approach the game with full respect for their opponents. He acknowledged the difficulty of the fixture, especially considering Yanga’s long trip back from Algeria, where they faced JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League and secured an important away point.
However, he emphasized that Yanga is a team that demands three points from every match, and they will enter the game with the clear objective of winning.
“After returning from Algeria, we haven’t had much time to prepare. The journey was very long. We face the challenge of staying true to our goals. Yanga’s biggest standard is to win every match. It doesn’t matter which competition—our priority is victory.”
“We are working extremely hard to perform well and correct the mistakes that appeared. We know our opponents have prepared well too. We respect every team that stands before us. We will play as if it’s a Champions League match. Our philosophy won’t change. Our aim is simply to win.”
“Some players are dealing with minor injuries, but starting today, I am optimistic. I can say I have the majority of the squad I need. We are working to address the small injury concerns affecting some players to ensure their readiness,” Goncalves said.
Speaking on behalf of his teammates, goalkeeper Aboubakar Khomain confirmed the squad’s readiness and understanding of the importance of the match.
Khomain assured Yanga fans that they should expect entertainment accompanied by victory in tomorrow’s game.
“We are done with the Champions League matches for now; our focus is back home. Every player knows what needs to be done. We invested a lot of energy in the Champions League, but we are still strong physically and mentally, and we’re ready to fight for the three crucial points.”
