Tanzania’s four representatives in this season’s CAF competitions—Yanga, Simba, Azam FC, and Singida BS—have completed their first-round group-stage matches, with Yanga emerging as the only team to collect three points.
The “Wananchi” defeated AS FAR 1–0 in their CAF Champions League Group B match played yesterday at the New Amaan Complex.
Their rivals Simba suffered a setback after losing 1–0 to Petro Atlético at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Meanwhile, Singida BS were beaten 2–0 by CR Belouizdad in Algeria, while Azam FC also fell 2–0 to Maniema Union of DR Congo.
It is fair to say that Yanga were the only side to fly Tanzania’s flag high in the opening round of the group-stage matches.
