Yesterday was a special day for Yanga striker Clement Mzize, who was announced as the winner of the CAF Goal of the Year award during the CAF Awards night held in Morocco.
Mzize, who could not attend the ceremony as he is still recovering after undergoing knee surgery recently, said the award has boosted his morale and motivated him to work even harder.
He thanked his teammates, coaches, club officials, and fans who supported him and voted for him in large numbers, saying the award belongs to all of them.
"I am very grateful to CAF for giving me this award. I believe it is a catalyst for me—it has increased my value and given me something significant in my responsibilities."
"I also want to thank my teammates for fighting hard, which made it possible for me to win this award. I believe this is our award collectively."
"I sincerely thank the technical bench, the leadership, and especially the fans for voting for me and enabling me to win this Goal of the Season award," Mzize said.
