Yanga Princess striker Jeaninne Mukandayisenga has revealed that the players are hungry to win the Women’s Premier League title and make history for the first time.
Since the Women’s League was established in 2017, only three teams have ever lifted the trophy — Mlandizi Queens, who won the inaugural title, while Simba Queens and JKT Queens have each claimed it four times.
Mukandayisenga stated that this could be their best season yet, citing the strength of the squad and the determination of every player to fight for the championship. She added that the team is fully focused on performing well in every match to achieve their season objectives.
“We know the league is tough, every team has prepared well, but we also have our goals — we want the championship. Every player is highly motivated, and I believe this could be our special season,” said Mukandayisenga.
The Rwandan forward also revealed her personal ambition of winning the Golden Boot award, expressing confidence that she can reach the 20-goal mark this season thanks to the quality of Yanga’s attacking midfielders.
“Our team has signed experienced and talented players, and I believe with their support, my dream of winning the top scorer’s award can come true,” she added.
Mukandayisenga joined Yanga during the mid-season transfer window from Rwanda’s Rayon Sports, where she showcased impressive form. In her short spell with Yanga Princess, she scored 12 goals and helped the team finish third in the league standings.
