Yanga striker Clement Mzize has undergone knee surgery that is expected to sideline him for about two months.
Mzize first sustained the injury while on national duty with the Tanzania team during the 2024 CHAN tournament held in August this year.
After recovering from that injury, Mzize returned to action at the start of the season, featuring in the Community Shield match and the CAF Champions League preliminary round tie against Wiliete SC, with the first leg played in Angola.
However, he aggravated the same injury during that match and was ruled out for about three weeks. A day before Yanga’s CAF Champions League fixture against Silver Strikers, Mzize — who had resumed full training — suffered a relapse of the injury.
According to information from Yanga’s management, Mzize is expected to be out of action for 8 to 10 weeks, which means he will miss the opening matches of the CAF Champions League group stage and possibly the 2025 AFCON tournament scheduled to take place next month in Morocco.
