Yanga head coach Pedro Goncalves faces the task of preparing his squad for the challenges of the CAF Champions League group stage, which is expected to kick off at the end of this month.
In the draw held earlier today in South Africa, Yanga were placed in Group B alongside Al Ahly, FAR Rabat, and JS Kabylie — meaning it’s Yanga versus a trio of North African powerhouses, with the main goal being to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Pedro now has two weeks to get Yanga fully prepared for the intensity of these upcoming encounters.
In truth, Yanga did not start this season strongly and had to wait until the final qualifying match to secure a group stage spot, defeating Silver Strikers of Malawi 2–0 after losing 1–0 in the first leg.
Last season, Yanga also struggled in the group stage, losing their first two matches and ultimately missing out on a place in the quarter-finals.
