After Yanga lost 1–0 to Silver Strikers on October 18, 2025, the club’s defender and assistant captain, Dickson Job, said they will not accept another humiliation at home at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium tomorrow, Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Job said the match is about restoring Yanga’s honour and ensuring they fight to reach the CAF Champions League group stage.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Yanga will host Silver Strikers in the second-leg CAF Champions League playoff to qualify for the group stage.
Following the 1–0 away defeat in the first leg, Yanga must win by at least 2–0 to qualify. If they win 1–0, the tie will be decided by penalties. Any other result ends their journey.
“I am here to represent my fellow players to say we know how important this match is — we will fight with sweat and blood to reach the group stage,” said Job, adding:
“I ask the fans to understand that we have important business at Mkapa tomorrow. Go to bed thinking about the game, come in large numbers to support us — our unity will bring success and joy.”
Job said losing away does not mean Yanga failed — rather, the original game plan did not work, and this time they will approach things differently.
“Let our fans continue to believe in us — tomorrow they will leave with their heads high. We won’t let them down, the team’s brand will be respected,” Job said.
