Yanga’s team doctor, Moses Etutu, has confirmed that the team continues with preparations ahead of the first-leg CAF Champions League qualification match against Silver Strikers, scheduled for Saturday, October 18, in Malawi.
Etutu stated that all players who were not involved in national team duties are training under head coach Romain Folz, assisted by Patrick Mabedi.
Speaking about striker Clement Mzize, who had been sidelined with an injury, Etutu said the player has returned to training, although he is not yet fully fit.
“All players are continuing with preparations for our CAF Champions League match against Silver Strikers, which will be played this weekend in Malawi,” said Etutu.
“We’ve had a good period of preparation, and the good news is that we currently have no injuries. Clement Mzize, who had been out due to a thigh muscle strain, has now rejoined the team.”
“He has started participating in training sessions with the rest of the squad, though he may need a little more time to reach full fitness. At the moment, I can say he is at about 70 percent,” Etutu added.
“However, we still have a few days before our match against Silver Strikers, so he might be ready for selection,” he said.
In another update, some players who were away on national duty have already returned to camp.
Attacking midfielders Ecua Celestin and Lassine Kouma returned early after completing their assignments with the Chad national team, while other players are expected to arrive today.
Yanga are expected to depart Dar es Salaam tomorrow, Thursday, heading to Malawi for the match against Silver Strikers, which will be played on Saturday.
