Yanga SC has continued to affirm its dominance in the NBC Premier League and other competitions, reaching 33 consecutive matches without a defeat.
Recently, Yanga was held to a goalless draw by Mbeya City in a league match played at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.
Although the result did not please the “Wananchi” fans, who feel the team has not yet reached last season’s top form, statistics show that Yanga has been one of the toughest teams to beat.
According to records, the last time Yanga lost a game was on December 7, 2024, in the CAF Champions League group stage, when they were beaten 2-0 by MC Alger in Algeria.
In the Premier League, their last defeat came on November 7, 2024, when they suffered a 3-1 loss against Tabora United at Azam Complex.
After that setback, Yanga switched to using KMC Complex as their home ground and have since gone unbeaten in the league, stringing together approximately 22 straight matches without a loss.
This is not the first time Yanga has set unique records. Two seasons ago, the club made history by going 49 matches unbeaten across all competitions—a record that still stands as a proud milestone in Tanzanian football.
Despite some fans being unsatisfied with the start of this season, Yanga remains in a strong position to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stage, where they will face Malawi’s Silver Strikers in two decisive legs (home and away).
Additionally, after two Premier League matches, the “Wananchi” sit fourth on the table with four points, two behind their arch-rivals Simba, who top the standings with six points. It is, however, still very early in the season, with only two matches played.
