Yanga midfielder Aziz Andabwile has emerged as one of the standout players driving Romain Folz’s squad this season, revealing that the secret behind his success is commitment, teamwork, and following the coach’s instructions.
Currently in Mbeya with the Yanga squad ahead of today’s clash at Sokoine Stadium, Andabwile said his philosophy is simple: fulfill his duties by sticking to the coach’s guidance while also working closely with his teammates.
“The key is to carry out my responsibilities, but I don’t do it alone. Teamwork with my fellow players and following the coach’s instructions are the foundation of Yanga’s success. Everyone’s hunger is to contribute,” he said.
In the four competitive matches Yanga has played this season, Andabwile has featured in three full 90-minute games and once as a substitute against Pamba Jiji.
He has scored two crucial goals against Angola’s Wiliete—one away and another in the return leg at home—performances that have made fans see him as Yanga’s new hero.
Yanga began their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Simba, followed by a 3-0 win away against Wiliete, and then sealed a 2-0 victory in the return leg in Dar es Salaam. Through all these matches, Andabwile has maintained impressive form.
Last season was not as bright for him. He was given limited opportunities under three different coaches (Miguel Gamondi, Sead Ramovic, and Miloud Hamdi), playing only five matches and 125 minutes without scoring or assisting.
But under Folz, Andabwile has reinvented himself, showing signs that this could be the season where he fully proves his great potential.
