Tomorrow, Saturday, September 27, all eyes and ears of Tanzanian football fans will be on Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as Young Africans SC (Yanga) take on Angola’s Wiliete SC in the second-leg preliminary round of the CAF Champions League (CAFCL).
In the first leg played in Angola, Yanga showed dominance with a 3–0 victory, giving them a huge advantage in the race to reach the First Round. Mathematically, Yanga need a win, a draw, or even a loss by no more than two goals to advance.
Despite holding that advantage, the “Wananchi,” led by coach Romain Folz, will not be complacent. Playing at home in front of their passionate supporters, Yanga will surely aim for another victory to strengthen their momentum in this prestigious continental competition.
If Yanga progresses, they will face the winner between Malawi’s Silver Strikers and Madagascar’s Elgeco Plus. The two sides drew 1–1 in the first leg in Madagascar, with the return leg set for tomorrow in Malawi.
This season, Yanga has set its sights on at least qualifying for the group stage and then pushing further in the competition. The Wananchi have 270 minutes to achieve their initial target.
