Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has assured the club’s members and fans that under head coach Romain Folz, they should expect great things from their team.
Kamwe said that the 3-0 away victory against Wiliete S.C is proof of the strength of Folz’s squad, which had just played the Kariakoo Derby against Simba before traveling for more than seven hours to Angola.
“Yanga played the Kariakoo Derby on the 16th from 5:00 PM until around 9:00 PM. After the match, the team returned to the hotel, there was no sleeping, players packed their bags and by 1:00 AM they were already at the airport preparing for the Angola trip.”
“At 4:00 AM on the 17th the players flew to Ethiopia, rested for just three hours, no one closed their eyes. From there, they connected another flight to Angola, three to four hours in the air. They arrived, had one day of training, and then on Friday went straight into the match against Angola’s second-best team. We dominated in almost every department.”
“We created chances, we kept possession, and were superior in all areas. Look at how tight the schedule was, yet Yanga dominated Angola.”
“What Folz is building, may God keep us alive to witness the bomb that is being prepared. Perhaps this proves what our president (Hersi Said) said—that this season we have the best team in the last four years. Anyone who understands football will start to see the transformation happening.”
“We played away without Dickson Job, and no one noticed he wasn’t there. Bakari Mwamnyeto partnered Ibrahim Bacca in defense. Maxi and Mudathir, who played the Derby, started on the bench, and we fielded different players. Yet nobody asked why Mudathir or Maxi weren’t in the lineup.”
“In between we have the league match (against Pamba Jiji on September 24), then when these Angolans come to Tanzania, that’s the match where Yanga will showcase everything in the CAF Champions League.”
“That day we’ll be very focused because we want to qualify with a large margin, since there’s the ‘Mama’s goal’ bonus. Just from this game alone we earned 15 million TZS, and in the return leg we’ll work harder and maybe collect 30 million. It’s possible.”
“At this preliminary stage, we want to score as many goals as possible so we can collect more money from our President, Samia Suluhu Hassan,” Kamwe boasted.
