Yanga’s Chief Executive Officer, Andre Mtine, says the team has arrived in Angola with only one mission — to win their CAF Champions League preliminary round match against Wiliete SC scheduled for tomorrow, Friday.
The Yanga squad landed in Luanda yesterday ahead of the clash, which will be played in the Angolan capital at 6:00 p.m. Tanzanian time.
Mtine, who is leading Yanga’s delegation, said they are fully aware they are up against a strong side, and the technical bench has prepared thoroughly to ensure a good start to the competition.
“We have arrived safely here in Angola for our Champions League match against Wiliete SC. We have done enough preparation; our technical bench has studied our opponents and made the right plans for this game,” he said.
“I ask our fans to keep us in their prayers so that we can secure a positive result and achieve our objectives,” Mtine added.
Meanwhile, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, said that after arriving in Angola yesterday, the team held a light gym session to shake off fatigue. Today, they will hold their final training session at the match venue.
Yanga departed Tanzania early yesterday morning, roughly eight hours after their Community Shield win over Simba, which they secured with a 1-0 victory.
It appears Wiliete SC opted to schedule the match for September 19, perhaps believing Yanga’s stars would still be feeling the effects of the derby.
