Pacome Zouzoua was chosen as the star of the Community Shield match against Simba yesterday, perhaps because he scored the only goal that secured Yanga a 1-0 victory.
But if not for that, goalkeeper Djigui Diarra surely deserved the award, thanks to the outstanding job he did at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to keep Yanga in the game and ultimately guide them to victory after 90 minutes.
There were crucial moments when Yanga needed his strength between the posts, as he saved nearly three clear chances — situations that could have turned into a nightmare had the team had a less reliable keeper.
He is not called the "Screen Protector" or "Arrow Catcher" by coincidence; those nicknames truly reflect what he delivers in goal.
