Yanga have successfully defended the Community Shield for a second consecutive season after defeating Simba 1-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
It was none other than Pacome Zouzoua who scored the decisive goal in the second half, capitalizing on a rebound initially cleared by Simba’s defenders.
Yanga head coach Romain Folz kept things simple today, naming the same starting lineup that beat Simba 2-0 in their last encounter of the previous season.
The only change was the inclusion of Aziz Andabwile in the midfield role previously occupied by Khalid Aucho.
It was a match Yanga could have sealed earlier, given the number of chances they created, particularly in the first half.
This marks Simba’s sixth consecutive defeat to Yanga, with their rivals once again walking away with the Shield.
As some fans put it, “This Yanga might only be stopped by the courts…!”
