Yanga SC have today signed a partnership with BlackBird, a company based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to implement an artificial intelligence (AI) system for collecting player data.
Yanga President, Engineer Hersi Said, announced that the agreement makes Yanga the first club in Africa to adopt such a system.
“Today we have signed a contract with BlackBird from Rotterdam, Netherlands. This contract is for Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology,” Hersi said.
“This system will help us collect data on our players. Yanga is the first club in Africa to enter into such an agreement.”
Meanwhile, Thim van der Weijden from BlackBird said they chose Yanga because of its stature as one of Africa’s biggest clubs and were particularly impressed by the transformation process undertaken by the Tanzanian champions.
“We are very delighted to be a technology partner with Yanga. We chose Yanga because it is a very big club in Africa. We were highly impressed by their transformation journey, which has given us the opportunity to work with a club that matches the pace of technology,” he said.
