Yanga President, Engineer Hersi Said, has stated that Yanga is the most valuable club in Tanzania, considering the assets it owns. Hersi made this remark yesterday while inaugurating the NSSf Yanga Family branch in Dar es Salaam.
A few days ago, during Yanga’s Annual General Meeting, a special committee led by Alex Mgongolwa — tasked with evaluating the club’s worth — announced that Yanga’s value stands at TSh 100 billion.
This declaration has sparked debates, with some questioning the accuracy of the valuation, comparing it to other major African clubs such as Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“There is no club wealthier than Yanga in Tanzania. Yanga has the biggest contracts of all, which means in terms of commercial value, we are number one,” Hersi said.
“We own immovable properties, including a building in Jangwani, and another building on Mafia Street in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam.”
“Show me another club with two buildings in Kariakoo — there is none. We own land in Jangwani measuring 37,500 square meters, which at current value is worth TSh 56 billion.”
“We also have land in Kigamboni that can be developed into training grounds. If we invest in this land, it could cost about TSh 3 billion. Even if we subtract that development cost from the Jangwani property value, we would still have TSh 53 billion.”
“When we say this is the number one club in terms of wealth, we mean it — including all the assets we own,” Hersi emphasized.
