Yanga SC president, Eng. Hersi Said, has revealed that head coach Romain Folz requested striker Clement Mzize not be sold during the current transfer window, insisting he is a key part of his plans for the coming season.
βWe received many offers for striker Clement Mzize. Let me be clear, the latest offer we received was $2 million (approx. TZS 5 billion), but we rejected it because we are not an academy,β Hersi explained.
βWe cannot sell Mzize at any price because we need him this season. Coach Romain Folz told me he requires Mzize for his plans this year. What we did instead was improve his contract, and he is now the highest-paid player in the Yanga squad,β he added.
Hersi emphasized that Yanga are determined to compete strongly in the upcoming season, especially in the CAF Champions League, and therefore cannot afford to lose their key players. Mzize will continue to serve out his remaining two-year contract with the club.
