Coach Romain Folz has completed one month since taking over the Yanga squad, replacing Miloud Hamdi who joined Egyptian club Ismailia.
Folz officially began his duties on August 1, when the Tanzanian Premier League champions started preparations for the new season’s pre-season.
During the first two weeks, his squad trained at the KMC Complex before moving to Avic Town, where Yanga has been based for the past four seasons.
Under Folz, Yanga has played several friendly matches, winning most of them. The team claimed the Rayon Sports Day title after defeating Rayon Sport 3-1 in Rwanda.
Upon returning to Tanzania, the club also played friendly matches against Fountain Gate, winning 2-1, and then beat Tabora United 4-0.
Folz has assured Yanga fans that his squad will be fully prepared after the pre-season and will compete for victory in every competition they participate in the upcoming season.
Yanga is expected to play several more friendly matches before the highlight of Citizen Week on September 12, when they will face Kenya’s Bandari FC.
Folz’s first competitive match will be against Simba on September 16 in the Community Shield. After that match, Yanga will travel to Angola to face Wiliete Banguela in the first round of the CAF Champions League on September 21, with the return leg scheduled in Dar es Salaam on September 28.
