Yanga will face Wiliete Benguela of Angola in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Founded just eight years ago, Wiliete finished second in the Angolan top-flight league, behind champions Petro Atletico. This will be their first-ever appearance in CAF competitions. The club is financially stable and has invested in players with experience in high-level tournaments.
Among their recent signings are former Yanga stars Skudu Makudubela and Joyce Lomalisa, while they are also reported to have hired former Azam FC coach Bruno Ferry.
The Angolan side will host Yanga in the first-leg match on September 21 in Angola, before the return leg a week later at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Wiliete Benguela are currently holding a training camp in Portugal as part of their preparations for the clash that will decide who advances to the first round.
Meanwhile, Yanga continue with their preparations at Avic Town, fully aware of the challenge ahead. The club’s immediate target is to reach the group stages, after which they will set new objectives for the later rounds.
