Yanga SC is on the verge of retaining its promising young striker, Clement Mzize, despite strong interest and offers from both local and international clubs, it has emerged.
Reports from the club’s headquarters indicate that management has successfully convinced Mzize to sign a new contract that will keep him at Jangwani until 2028.
Originally, Mzize had a two-year deal, but he has now been offered an additional year, alongside a salary increase and a new car.
Tunisia’s Esperance was reported to have tabled a $1 million offer for the striker, who netted two goals in the CHAN tournament. However, Yanga prioritized convincing him to stay.
Yanga’s president, Engineer Hersi Said, has repeatedly emphasized that the club’s policy is to ensure key players remain first, and only consider selling when absolutely necessary.
The club has set big goals for the upcoming season, including defending all its domestic titles and performing even better in the CAF Champions League.
After selling Stephane Aziz Ki, Yanga was unwilling to lose another key player, hence ensuring Mzize remains part of the squad for the upcoming campaign.
