Yanga SC and Tanzania national team (Taifa Stars) central defender Ibrahim Hamad “Bacca,” who is also employed by KMKM, was recently promoted from Corporal to Sergeant in recognition of his outstanding performances for both club and country.
KMKM head coach, Ame Msime Khamis, has revealed how much Bacca continues to support the team, despite now playing for Yanga in the Tanzanian Premier League.
According to Msime, Bacca remains a guardian figure for KMKM, often extending financial assistance to the club that gave him exposure before he signed for Yanga.
“Bacca is still an employee of KMKM, but more than that, he is a patron of this team. Since leaving, he has continued to help us in many ways. As we prepare for international competitions, he sent financial support—though it’s not appropriate to reveal the exact amount,” Msime told Mwanaspoti.
“The money was specifically for purchasing training equipment, which has already been done. We still feel his presence in the team despite him not being here physically,” he added.
Msime further explained that Bacca regularly lends a hand to the club, and during off-seasons, he even joins KMKM’s training sessions, especially when he is in Zanzibar.
“I can call him more than just a player—he is a patron of this team. He has always gone the extra mile for KMKM. Knowing we have major tournaments ahead, he contributed funds to purchase equipment, which he believes will be vital for the team’s preparations,” said Msime.
