Yanga Head Coach, Romain Folz, has expressed his satisfaction with the team’s ongoing camp at Avic Town, a venue that has been the Citizens’ stronghold for pre-season preparations over the past four consecutive seasons.
Yanga entered Avic Town two days ago, after spending the first two weeks of pre-season training at the KMC Complex. During that time, Avic Town was undergoing major renovations, which caused the squad to delay their return to camp there. Now that the renovations have been completed, Folz and his technical bench have agreed to continue preparations at the facility.
Initially, there were rumors that Yanga would head abroad right after their friendly match against Rayon Sports, but those plans have been officially cancelled. The club’s management has confirmed that the extensive improvements made at Avic Town have eliminated the need to seek a camp outside Tanzania’s borders.
“We cancelled that trip. Our camp had undergone major renovations. Even if we had traveled abroad, we would have ended up returning there. With the changes that have been made, we agreed to complete our preparations here, and fortunately, the coach has approved,” said one of Yanga’s top officials.
Historically, every season Yanga has camped at Avic Town has been marked by success. The Citizens have managed to win all domestic trophies each time they trained there, except on one occasion when they missed out on the Community Shield.
This trend has further solidified Avic Town’s reputation as a “lucky” and highly motivating base for the Tanzanian champions, a factor that has also contributed to the management’s lack of urgency in seeking preparations abroad.
