Fresh updates from the transfer market reveal that Yanga SC and Tanzania national team striker, Clement Mzize, continues to attract strong interest from various clubs across Africa and the Central-East region.
This comes just a day after Mzize led Taifa Stars to a 2-1 victory over Madagascar, a win that secured them a spot in the quarter-finals of the CHAN tournament. In the competition, Mzize has been in blistering form, leading the scoring charts with two goals.
Earlier, Yanga had agreed to sell Mzize to Qatar’s Al-Sadd SC for $900,000. However, the deal stalled due to a lack of personal agreement between Mzize and Al-Sadd, particularly concerning salary and other personal terms.
Now, Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis have officially entered the race, submitting an offer of around $1 million (over Tsh 2.5 billion) to Yanga. If they can reach an agreement with Mzize on personal terms, the chances of the player heading to Tunisia are high.
Yanga’s management has confirmed that they have not closed the door on Mzize leaving, as long as the offer is right and benefits both the player and the club.
Given Mzize’s form in CHAN, Yanga fans have every reason to be proud, but they may also need to prepare themselves for the possibility of losing their star before the new season begins.
If his current momentum continues, Mzize’s journey from the Tanzanian Premier League to a bigger league in Africa or even beyond could be just a matter of time.
