You could say striker Clement Mzize is the talk of the town in Tanzanian football right now, as he continues to attract interest from top clubs, with negotiations ongoing at Yanga’s Jangwani headquarters over his potential move.
So far, Yanga has reached an agreement with Qatari club Al-Sadd SC, but the player himself has yet to agree on personal terms, particularly regarding his salary.
Recently, Egyptian club Al Masry entered the race, submitting an offer estimated at TSh 1.5 billion, which Yanga rejected as Al-Sadd SC had already tabled a higher bid of TSh 2.2 billion.
Tunisian giants Esperance are also expected to submit an offer in the coming days in an attempt to lure Mzize to Tunisia.
Al Ittihad of Libya and Egyptian side Zamalek have also made offers, but they reportedly did not meet the player’s expectations in terms of personal terms.
Yanga’s management has opened the door for Mzize to seek challenges abroad, though it is said that the reason he remains in Tanzania is related to his management team.
Zamalek were in the final stages of securing his signature but halted the process, claiming that the costs had increased midway through negotiations, contrary to their initial agreement.
